MAKE A WISH A REALITY Direct Link to Post CAROLYN AGE 7 Carolyn is a remarkable first grader from Birmingham. This 7-year-old girl loves to read, sew and sing. However, unlike most children her age, Carolyn has already fought a tough battle - the battle for her life against leukemia. At 4 years old, Carolyn was diagnosed with cancer, and she has spent the past two years in the hospital undergoing treatment and fighting numerous complications. She kept up her spirits by thinking about the special wish she will soon receive from Magic Moments. In May 2009, Carolyn completed her last treatment and is now able to make her wish a reality. She wanted to wait until her treatments were finished so she "could really enjoy it and not have to ride around in a wheelchair." On December 17th Carolyn and her family will be traveling to Orlando to spend an entire week at Disney World! She is counting down the days until she boards the plane and leaves for her magical trip. Most children have not had to battle and fight the way Carolyn has. She has proven to be brave beyond her years, and it has been the excitement of looking forward to her wish from Magic Moments coming true that has pulled her through. Magic Moments fulfills the non-medical wishes of chronically ill Alabama children ages 4-18, specifically those who have chronically life-threatening illnesses or children who have suffered a physical trauma resulting in severe life-altering consequences. During its first three months of inception, Magic Moments granted three wishes. Now in its 25th year of operation, we have granted over 3,800 magic moments to Alabama’s critically-ill children. We are working very hard to raise enough money to send one very deserving child to Disney World to fulfill their wish and it is the most gratifying feeling to know that we, along with the help of our friends, family and customers, have the ability to make this wish come true for this special child. Not only are we excited about this wonderful opportunity to help someone in such way but we are looking forward to continuing to donate and work with Magic Moments for many years to come. October 10, 2009 5K Race for the Cure Direct Link to Post Saturday October 10, 2009 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Karen Lollar and Pam Weaver from Guide Insurance Agency participated Saturday October 10, 2009 in the Susan G. Komen 5K Race for the Cure. It was a rainy morning but still 14,000 plus people showed up to support the cause. It was very exhausting but the results were worth it.
